On the 11th November the UK Government released guidelines for universities regarding the safe travel home for the Christmas holidays. For UCLan students, you should have received an email on this topic from the University.

From Monday the 7th December all teaching will move to an online basis. This should provide plenty of time for you to travel in line with the Governments plan for a student travel window. You will find out more about this soon, as well as details regarding the Covid-19 testing. UCLan have said that the new term will begin as planned on the 4th of January, and you will be kept up to date with any relevant government guidelines about travelling and returning to university.

But you don’t have to return home for Christmas. If you are staying in any of our accommodation here at Let Pads, you are welcome to stay and celebrate Christmas with your flatmates and friends. And the Students Union will still be around to provide support and services too. This will include online events and activities, as well as if possible, face to face, socially distanced, in person activities. UCLan, and everyone at the SU are working hard to implement and keep to Covid secure guidelines.

And if you need wellbeing support this holiday season, the Students Union can also help with that. Christmas can be a very challenging time of year, and if you are feeling any of the pressures, make sure you reach out for support.

Students’ Union President Zuleikha said:

“We want to ensure that all students are able to enjoy the winter break, whether they choose to go home, or prefer to stay on campus. It’s so important that our students feel supported by their Students’ Union at all times – even over the holidays. We will continue to communicate with you over the Christmas break and beyond.”

Here at Let Pads, we provide stunning, high quality properties across Preston, in easy walking distance of the UCLan campus, and the city centre. If you need student accommodation for the new term, why not get in touch to find out more?
