UCLan is preparing to host a remarkable event dedicated to its graduates and their families. The Alumni Reunion, a one-day extravaganza, is scheduled for Saturday, July 22, and aims to warmly welcome back former students to the Preston Campus.

Throughout the day, attendees can partake in a diverse range of free activities and events. A highlight of the reunion will be an exclusive talk by John Thomson, renowned Cold Feet actor and UCLan Honorary Fellow.

The Head of Development and Alumni at UCLan, Maggie Wild, said:

“We’re very proud to have a global alumni community of more than 200,000 graduates, so we created a special event where as many of those alumni can return. We’d really love to see alumni who studied at Harris College, Preston Polytechnic, Lancashire Polytechnic and UCLan reminisce about their happy years, as for some that our beautiful campus has changed dramatically since they studied here. For the most recent graduates, then our new Engineering Innovation Centre, Student Centre and University Square will be the newest additions. Our alumni are a huge part of our long and celebrated history and we know enduring friendships, relationships and future generations stemmed from the years spent studying with us.”

From 10 am to 5 pm, esteemed academics will deliver engaging guest lectures on various topics, including the university’s history and survival psychology. Graduates can also take guided campus tours, visit their former accommodations, and revisit popular hangouts.

Within the Students’ Union, attendees can participate in a fast-paced quiz, and families can enjoy a specially curated digital treasure hunt crafted by two UCLan alumni who met during their time at the university.

Informative and entertaining drop-in sessions will be available throughout the day, featuring alumni and staff members who will share captivating images and artifacts from the university’s archives.

For alumni yearning for the nostalgic flavors of their student days, Foster Refectory will be serving a traditional university menu featuring the most popular meals from bygone decades.

The day will culminate in a delightful drinks’ reception at the new Rooftop Garden, where Vice-Chancellor Professor Graham Baldwin will be present. Maggie encourages graduates attending the Alumni Reunion to bring along photographs from their student days, as they provide valuable glimpses into the changing times over the years.

Recognizing that many alumni are based in the North West but may be unable to travel back to Preston, UCLan encourages them to organize their own celebrations and share their photographs on social media using the hashtag #UCLanAlumni.
