Preston is the city at the heart of Lancashire with a thriving economy attracting numerous FTSE200 companies within its locations in and around the working hub of the city. Its network of roads, rail and airports means you are at the centre of it all. You can get to Liverpool, Manchester and the beautiful Lake District all within an hour. If you have business in the big city of London you can fly within 30 mins or get a direct train from Preston to Euston in 2 hours direct. Hence the reasons why so many people choose to live in Preston yet work in London.

We have one of the fastest growing universities in the UK that being the highly awarded University of Central Lancashire. With over 30,000 students choosing to study there every year, its no wonder Preston is becoming ever so popular. Preston is retaining more and more graduates to live and work in the city as more and more larger companies are setting up in the city.

Preston also has a great nightlife with its student end of pubs and clubs from its student union bar and its nightclub 53 degrees. Onto the well renowned yellow pubs of The Adelphi and Roper Hall. And more recently Roper Hall now has the upstairs nightclub venue named The Attic. Don’t forget Ships & Giggles and from there you have the endless street of pubs that make up the famous student end of Friargate. Its non-stop action for the student night owl as Mondays ends at Cameo nightclub, then Tuesday it’s the famous indie rock club named The Warehouse, Wednesdays always ends at the old famous Lava & Ignite nightclubs, Thursdays its 53 degrees. Well from then the students have the choice to do it all again over the weekend or nurse there heads, the choice is yours??? This is only the student end, as on the famous church street you have the cities thriving nightlife centre all ready to explore.

Hey students it’s not just all about the partying, is it?? Preston has museums a plenty as more than 750 buildings and structures in Preston are listed by the English heritage for their architectural and historical importance. The Harris museum has some of the countries best interior and collections available for viewings.

If it’s shopping you love Preston has both old and new with its beautiful traditional outdoor markets and the great indoor markets excellent for grabbing your fresh fruit, veg, fish and meats. There are two huge indoor shopping centres with st Georges centre now The Mall and the Fishergate Centre. The Mall has recently undergone a multi million pound refit. There are the streets of Church st, Friargate and Fishergate for your lines of high street retailers. Winckley square host the hub of the business sector and the great old character of the cobbled streets and heritage buildings. Close by being the amazing recently developed Avenham Park with experts have named ‘the little place to forget about it all’ as you could easily think you were in another European country once you walk or jog around the surroundings. There are also numerous shopping centres just outside of the city centre with Deepdale Retail Park and Capitol Centre to name a few.

There are numerous cafes around where you will find a whole array of people catching up with friends. From the famous Mystery Teahouse, to the newly opened Turtle Bay. There are also the well-known Costa, Starbucks, Frankie’s etc the list could really just go on and on. But Bruccini’s must be one of the oldest left in the city. There are numerous gastro pubs and amazing restaurants to visit, just check them all on trip advisor.

The famous guild wheel is a real favourite to jog, cycle or just walk along showing some great scenic views of the city. The cities docklands area has also expanded over the years having multi million pounds water view developments and high end office buildings. Still with its boats all anchored to see, a real great view to take in with some of the pubs and restaurants on the waterfront. Also another retail area of the docks housing many high street names.
